It has spring tension and is curved so it has to be held down as it's being staked so the metal deforms back over the latch. The shell latch that's staked in the receiver came loose too so to hold it in place while I restaked it I used a small pair of needlenose vise grips with the ends of a wooden clothes pin in the jaws with the rounded tip of it to push the latch down in to the channel it sits in. Bolts been beating the hell out of the receiver, needed the buffer replace as well as the action spring. I have a Remington 1100 I'm repairing for my neighbor. That's using your head.and hands.and mouth, lol. One hand on the grips, flashlight in mouth and pin in other hand.
